An Outdoor Wedding To Remember

Alisa and Mac, like so many other couples, designed their wedding to accommodate the lingering shadow of the Covid pandemic. Mac’s family provided the perfect, incredible backdrop of their home in Chatham, NY. Mahaiwetent provided the gorgeous tent, dance floor and seating for the dinner and reception, and the stunning flower arrangements were created by Kimberly Coon of Five Roots Florals & Events. As with every wedding I shoot, my intent is to simply be present and “along for the ride”. My approach to the wedding is that of both participant - in the way that every guest participates - and observer, but never that of director.

Documentary images are about what the day felt like. What was the vibe? How did it all play out? Which moments were unexpected, and which went exactly as planned? After the tent and flowers are gone, the food eaten and the guests dispersed, what remains are the photos. As a documentary wedding photographer, my goal is always to ensure that what remains are images that are genuine, emotional, and that the couple can return to again and again when they want to remember, not just the details of the day, but how it felt to be there.
